AMC Networks’ HIDIVE has announced that Sword of the Demon Hunter: Kijin Gentosho, a new supernatural historical fantasy series, will be part of the upcoming simulcast season on the anime streaming service.
Based on the popular fantasy manga and novel series created by Motoo Nakanishi, the anime will kick off HIDIVE’s exclusive Spring 2025 lineup with a special 60-minute premiere on Monday, March 31, at 8:30 AM Eastern.
Following the debut, new 30-minute episodes will air every Monday at 11:00 AM Eastern. Alongside the announcement, HIDIVE has also released the official English-subtitled trailer for the series.

“We’re thrilled to kick off HIDIVE’s Spring 2025 simulcast season with the exciting new series Sword of the Demon Hunter: Kijin Gentosho,” said John Ledford, President of HIDIVE. “This series offers a gripping mix of fantasy, action, adventure, and drama that will transport fans on a truly epic, centuries-spanning journey.”
Set in the Edo period, the story follows Jinta, a wandering orphan who, along with his younger sister Suzune, drifts into the mountain village of Kadono. Raised there, Jinta becomes the guardian of the village shrine maiden, Itsukihime. When a mysterious demon warns him of a distant future and the looming threat of a Demon God, Jinta embarks on a perilous journey into the forest to confront this unknown danger. This supernatural historical fantasy follows Jinta’s evolution as a demon hunter, tracing his journey from the Edo to Heisei periods as he struggles with the responsibility of wielding his sword.
The anime is adapted from Motoo Nakanishi’s original novel and manga series. The Sword of the Demon Hunter: Kijin Gentosho light novel spans 14 volumes and is published by Futabasha, while the ongoing manga adaptation, written by Nakanishi and illustrated by Yū Satomi, has seven volumes to date under Futabasha’s Action Comics label. English-language editions of both the light novel and manga are available from Seven Seas Entertainment.
The anime is directed by Kazuya Aiura, with writing by Deko Akao, character design by Taro Ikegami, and production by Yokohama Animation Laboratory. The voice cast includes Taku Yashiro as Jinta, Reina Ueda as Suzune, and Saori Hayami as Shirayuki.
