Here’s the First Trailer for the ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’ Sequel

Elsa from Frozen is definitely not in this movie.

The first trailer for The Huntsman: Winter’s War, the sequel/prequel/spin-off of Snow White and the Huntsman has just been released.

Check it out below.

The film will explore the origins of Eric the Huntsman (Chris Hemsworth), but will also take place after the events of the first film, and feature The Ice Queen (NOT Elsa) reviving her sister, the Evil Queen, also from the first film (Charlize Theron).

Jessica Chastain joins the cast as Sara, a warrior who grew up with the Huntsman, and returning characters from Snow White and the Huntsman include Nion the dwarf (Nick Frost) and William the prince (Sam Claflin).

As you’ve probably noticed by now, Snow White, played by Kristen Stewart, will not be in the film. This is due to a scandal that unfolded following the release of the first film, in which the film’s director, Rupert Sanders, was caught cheating on his wife with Stewart during the film’s production.

Due to this, the proposed sequel to Snow White was refocused as a spin-off featuring the Huntsman, and neither Sanders or Stewart would be involved.

The Huntsman: Winter’s War has been in development for a few years, due partially to the aforementioned scandal, and also directors leaving the project.

Production finally began earlier this year, under the direction of visual effects artist Cedric Nicolas-Trojan, who worked on the first film.

With a strong cast, cool effects, and absolutely  no connections to Frozen whatsoever, we’re interested to see how this sequel/prequel/spin-off pans out.

The Huntsman: Winter’s War hits theaters on April 22, 2016.
