If the fact that Halo coming to PC wasn’t exciting enough for you, it has been confirmed that when the Halo: The Master Chief Collection hits PC, it will feature a cross-progression feature with XBox One at launch.
“progression, unlocks, stats, etc…will carry over between PC/console”
Brian Jarrard, 343 Industries’ community director, responded to a tweet saying “progression, unlocks, stats, etc…will carry over between PC/console”, meaning you’ll be able to progress your space adventures on either platform.
But what about cross-play?! Cross-play is not a new feature to arrive on the gaming scene. Games such as Fortnite and Smite have seen huge success with this feature. However, for a game series such as Halo, this will be a huge ask.
“[cross-play] currently not planned for launch, but it’s something the team is accounting for and will evaluate over time”
On this point, Jarrad went on to reveal that cross-play is “currently not planned for launch, but it’s something the team is accounting for and will evaluate over time”. So although this feature may not be ready for when the game launches, it could be a possibility later on.
But, as it seems with all huge gaming events, a release date is yet to be set down for the collection to arrive to PC, despite the game being advertised on Steam. It was expected that the collection would be released later this year, but that may change with the game’s first public tests having been pushed back.
