[dropcap size=small]S[/dropcap]urprise, surprise. Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy are teaming up once again with Paul Feig for Sony’s upcoming Ghostbusters flick– and in no way is that a bad thing. The Bridesmaids co-stars will be joined by Saturday Night Live alumni Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon.
The Hollywood Reporter first revealed the actresses who are all but confirmed for the female-driven ghost busting team, and director Paul Feig backed up those reports with a wordless tweet featuring the four stars.

The Ghostbusters reboot has long been in development, and at one point was to have the original cast reprise their roles, but those plans fell apart when Bill Murray proved elusive and Harold Ramis passed away last year. After Feig was offered the director’s chair, he entertained the idea of an all-female team. Since then, there has been no shortage of guesses as to who would make the roster–almost all of them including Wiig and/or McCarthy.
While sure to be laugh-out-loud funny, the new Ghostbusters reboot is said to be more focused on some of the more frightening aspects that a gig hunting the supernatural would entail–a slight departure from its more tongue-in-cheek predecessors. The reboot will also not fall into continuity with the original film, its sequel, nor the animated series.
