The design competition show ‘Call to Cosplay’ raises the stakes in its third season, and promises to be bigger than ever before!

[dropcap size=small]T[/dropcap]he wonderful world of cosplay opens up the door for so many to demonstrate their creativity, artistic talent, and passion for a particular character or theme. If you’ve ever been to a convention of any kind, you’ll have no doubt been privy to some incredibly talented individuals who showcase their work.

Asian American entertainment network Myx TV is bringing back its design competition show, Call to Cosplay, which puts such talented cosplayers in the limelight, and allows them to put their creativity and costume designing talent to the test.

If you’ve never encountered Call to Cosplay before, the premise of the show is simple – by competing against fellow designers in a race against time, cosplayers have to craft unique costumes with a certain theme in mind.

The show began life back in 2014 as the first American reality show entirely dedicated to cosplayers, with its first season focusing solely on con-goers and the impressive array of costumes exhibited. A second season soon followed, and quickly became a fan favourite.

Now, Myx TV promises the third season will be ‘bigger than ever,’ and from what we’ve seen so far, it certainly looks set to live up to that promise.

Opening up the door to not just con-goers, but all costume designers who possess the passion and drive to make costumes from anything in pop-culture – including models, actors, character impersonators, and professional costumers – Myx TV states that ‘nothing is off limits!’

General manager of Myx TV, Miguel Santos, expressed the feel you can expect the third season to have:

This season we’re going bigger in every way to amp up the energy and create even more creative and unexpected challenges that will delight cosplay fans.

One of the most exciting aspects of the new season which is sure to give it a ‘bigger’ feel, sees us follow costume designers all over the West Coast (rather than just being restricted to a sound-stage like previous seasons). On this journey, we’ll get to witness a whole host of costume designers try to craft creations that relate to a particular theme relevant to the area they’re in:

Themes include “Super Villains,” filmed at the Gothic Revival-styled Park Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles and “Rock ‘n’ Roll Apocalypse,” filmed at the famed Arctic Club in Seattle, originally a decadent social institution for those who struck it rich in the Yukon gold rush.

This is sure to add to the atmosphere of the competition, and change it up from previous seasons in a fresh and exciting way.

And if you want a glimpse of the kind of costume creations you’ll be seeing, then look no further! Just check out this stunning, incredibly eerie costume designed to the theme of ‘Vampires’ by contestant Quinn (which you’ll see more of in episode four of the new season):

Now that’s talent right there!

Social media star and tattoo artist Romeo Lacoste will be judging the cosplayers alongside the former Miss Universe, Brook Lee, author and New Dress a Day fashion blogger, Marisa Lynch, and well-known cosplayer and Call to Cosplay season one grand prize champion, Johnny Junkers.

The show has also partnered with convention runner, Wizard World, and will be putting on live shows at Wizard World Comic Cons in Austin, Chicago, Orlando and Sacramento.

The show is such a fantastic platform to showcase what has become one of the most popular performance arts around, in which individuals can really demonstrate their passions in such a fun and creative way.

Call to Cosplay’s third season looks set to be quite the adventure, and one that’s not to be missed if you love all things cosplay.

Call to Cosplay season three will premiere on Myx TV on March 22 at 8:00PM/7:00PM, Central, and on MyxTV.com and CONtv, the digital streaming network, on March 23.
