Furious 7 Becomes Third Highest-Grossing Film of All Time

Months after its release, Furious 7 races past both Avengers films to take its place in the top three.

[dropcap size=small]J[/dropcap]ames Wan’s Furious 7 made $1 billion dollars more quickly than any movie ever, and it isn’t slowing up any time soon. The seventh movie in the Fast and Furious franchise has now made $1.520 billion dollars, inching ahead of Marvel’s The Avengers ($1.519 billion). Now only James Cameron stands between it and the top spot, with Avatar ($2.79 billion) and Titanic ($2.2 billion) making up the top two.

Furious 7 is a long way behind them, and with Jurassic World ($1.24 billion) hot in its tail, you have to think that the next few weeks are more likely to see it move down the standings than up them. But the franchise is only getting bigger; will Furious 8 have the gas to break $2 billion?

Furious 8 is set for release on April 14th, 2017.
