During the CES 2016 event held in Las Vegas last week, Funimation announced a new partnership with Sony to launch its new anime streaming service, FunimationNow.
FunimationNow will feature ad-free, HD anime, along with subbed and dubbed versions of over 400 shows. This includes simulcast anime like One Piece or Fairy Tail.
The service will launch in February on newly designed iOS, Android, Kindle, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, and Windows 10 Universal apps. Chromecast and Airplay can also be used for streaming to televisions.
In May, the service will expand with updated apps for PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and Roku. An all-new Funimation website will also debut with full FunimationNow integration.
“Our partnership with Sony, the very best in this space, will help power the launch of FunimationNow, our next generation of innovation for anime fans,” explained Mike DuBoise, Chief Operating Officer of Funimation. “We’re now uniquely positioned to deliver new and compelling experiences that will be integrated across multiple screens, platforms, and channels, making it easier for fans to discover, share, and experience extraordinary anime.”
If it isn’t obvious, we love anime, especially a number of Funimation series like Dragon Ball Z, Attack on Titan, and Fullmetal Alchemist. We’re excited check this service out when it goes live next month.
