[dropcap size=small]G[/dropcap]otta catch ’em all? Or in this case, fight ’em all? The first footage has been released for the upcoming Japanese fighting game Pokkén Tournament. Check out the clip below of fan-favorite Pikachu taking on Lucario.

Pokkén Tournament is currently being developed by Bandai Namco Games, the same studio responsible for the Tekken series of games, as a collaboration with The Pokémon Company. TPC determines the direction that the brand is taken and oversees its major projects.

The Japanese arcade game, which blends elements of the Tekken series with Pokémon characters, was announced last year by Bandai Namco Games, and seasoned Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada assured Pokéfans that there’s something for everyone:

“Whether you are a casual player, a regular player, or a hardcore player, anyone who likes Pokémon can have fun.”

A second video featuring Pikachu fighting Gardevoir is available below for your viewing pleasure.

The game is currently only set for a release as an arcade game in Japan, but if there’s any news regarding it coming to the West, we’ll be sure to have it here. Are you itching to play a strictly Pokémon fighting game? Tell us in the comments!

Pokkén Tournament is coming to Japanese arcades later this year with a release date TBA.
