Here’s What we Know About the Mysterious Female Super Saiyan Coming to ‘Dragon Ball Super’

Is it me or does she look eerily similar to Broly?

[dropcap size=small]I[/dropcap]n what might be one of the greatest twists thus far in Dragon Ball Super, a teaser has been released showing off what appears to be the first female Super Saiyan.

The character appears to look much like Broly, the ‘Legendary Super Saiyan‘ whom we had seen in a few earlier non-canon films (non-canon means it does not directly tie-in to the series).

You can check out the teaser below.

Since we all know Broly isn’t alive anymore after being ejected into the sun (nor is he considered canon among the anime or manga), the question still stands as to who she really is.

Her transformation from her base form into a Super Saiyan is interesting, as she has rather masculine features and her hair is very, very close to Broly’s once he has achieved Legendary Super Saiyan form. With more questions than answers, we’ll have to wait for the next episode of Dragon Ball Super to find out.

Below are some questions that we have that tie-in to some unique theories floating around.

  • Is it possible that Broly has been reimagined as a female for the canon Dragon Ball Universe 6 in Super where the main characters lives are focused?
  • Is this perhaps one version of Broly from a different universe where Broly is female- and if so, does this mean there is a male version of Broly some place within one of the known 13 universes?
  • Could this female Saiyan be a relative of Broly, meaning that Broly could finally be written into the canon somehow? Keep in mind that the events of Battle of Gods and Resurrection ‘F’ were both retold to fit within the events of Dragon Ball Super (slight but subtle changes). Thus, is it possible that the Broly movies could be retold in flashbacks to make him canon?
  • The greenish-hair, golden wrist braces, the red shirt, the muscle size, and the pure white, pupil-less eyes, are all clearly nods to Broly. But just how does this character relate to the original Legendary Super Saiyan?

Whatever this turns out to be, we could not be more excited.
