Trouble for the ‘Merc with a Mouth’?
[dropcap size=small]C[/dropcap]onsidering the odyssey undertaken to get the first made it shouldn’t come as a shock that the R-rated sequel is already hit a speed bump. Director Tim Miller, the man mostly likely to have leaked the infamous test footage, has exited production on Fox’s Marvel sequel. Some news outlets have cited creative differences between Miller and star Ryan Reynolds.
Deadpool was marred with budget cuts during its production with Reynolds having to pay out of his own pocket to keep writers on set during all the chaos of financial restrictions. Despite an atmosphere that would be corrosive to most creative minds, somehow, the writers and all involved were able to make necessary course corrections that resulted in the highest grossing R-rated film of all time.
Fans shouldn’t be too upset at Miller’s departure but the production is still in the capable hands of talent that knows the characters involved. James Gunn, director of GOTG Vol. 1 and the upcoming Vol.2, voiced his dissapoint of the departure of twitter:
Honestly bummed about Tim Miller leaving Deadpool. He did an amazing job with the first one; I’d like to have seen where he’d go next.

According the The Wrap the differences involve several things but namely the casting of Kyle Chandler as Cable. Reynold’s deal includes creative control including casting. Official word is that the split is amicable.
Reynolds also famously combated executives during the production of Green Lantern. He was right then so fans should hope he is right again. Otherwise, Deadpool 2 will fall short of the lofty expectations it already has. Unless screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick jump ship the news of Tim Millers departure shouldn’t be too serious.
