Producer Simon Kinberg gives an update on Fox’s Marvel Universe
[dropcap size=small]T[/dropcap]he long-awaited Gambit spin-off film will be ready to start filming in 2017. During an interview with That Hashtag Show, Kinberg revealed that film was supposed to have released this year along with Deadpool and X-men: Apocalypse. According to Kinberg the delays have been due to Channing Tatum‘s increasingly busy schedule.
Kinberg also commented on the status of his other Marvel films. The immediate priority is getting The Wolverine 3 finished. Then
“We start shooting Deadpool 2 at the beginning of next year, then I sit down and start writing the next of the mainline X-Men movies”
A Gambit film has been anticipated for a long time. He’s definitely one of the few X-men that deserves a stand-alone film. Gambit’s witty personality and sappy remarks with his heavy Cajun accent make him a memorable and lovable protagonist.
It’ll be great to see Deadpool, Gambit and the rest of the X-men come together on the big screen. Based on the success of other joint superhero films, it’s a pretty safe bet we’ll see that soon.
For now we’ll just have to be patient. The Wolverine 3 is due for the silver screen March 2017!
