[dropcap size=small]C[/dropcap]onstantine star Matt Ryan wants to join the DC Cinematic Universe because of course he doe$.

In a recent interview with The Mirror, Ryan was asked if Warner Bros. had any plans to cross their television properties with the DC Cinematic Universe. While the actor confessed he did not know what the studios’ plans were, he would be up for taking his character Constantine over to the big screen.

[dropcap size=small][/dropcap]…The show’s made by Warner Bros., which has the deal with DC, and it’s licensed to NBC, so I don’t know how the ins and outs of that work. But as an actor, how amazing would that be to do a crossover?”

Ryan’s answer is obviously a gracious response to a softball, uninformed question. That said, perhaps my introductory sentence to this article is a little unfair to Ryan– but I’m not going to bother changing it, because if you made it this far, it worked.

“I just lit a bunch of $100 bills on fire! I don’t give a ****! I’m makin’ that movie-money now!”

While it’s highly likely Ryan would accept a role in one of the upcoming films based on DC properties if offered, it’s highly unlikely that offer would ever come.

So far, it’s pretty apparent DC is keeping their television and film realms completely separate. However, DC Comics Chief Creative Director Geoff Johns has recently softened his previously hard lined stance on the issue, describing the television and film properties as more of a “multi-verse”. Therefore, a future crossover could still exist in the realm of possibility.

But, do audiences want to see Constantine meet with the DC heavy hitters on a cinematic scale? The television program’s future still hangs in the balance, and not to mention the previous film flop when Keanue Reeves portrayed the character in 2005.

What do you think? Would you like to see Matt Ryan as Constantine in the DC Cinematic Universe? Let us know in the comments below!

Constantine returns to NBC on January 16, 2015.
