“You are going to love Colossus.”, said Rob Liefield. “He’s in it – I hope Fox doesn’t get mad at me – he’s in it a good amount. He doesn’t just walk through the movie.”
[dropcap size=small]I[/dropcap]n the past X-Men films like X-Men, X2, X-Men: The Last Stand, and X-Men: Days of Future Past Colossus has had some sort of role in the films. Nonetheless, Colossus’ role has always been rather small and unimportant. Well, it seems that Colossus now has a colossal sized role in Fox’s Deadpool. At least according to Rob Liefield during the Q&A section of Amazing Hawaii Comic-Con.
Deadpool exists in the same universe as Fox’s Marvel X-Men, which means that at some point or another the mercenary would encounter someone from the X-Men. Thankfully Deadpool will be forging a rocky, but hilarious, relationship with Colossus. It makes sense, in the comics Deadpool and Colossus tend to team up and get into several scuffles from time to time. After all, with literally no filter to speak of Deadpool is bound to piss of Colossus at some point or another, which we saw in the trailer.
Could Colossus’ role in Deadpool be a stepping stone in the direction of the merc-with-a-mouth joining the X-Men or X-Force? It is possible, Deadpool is one of the most popular characters introduced by Marvel, so it wouldn’t be a bad idea on Fox’s part to head in that direction. Especially since their film Fantastic Four was a complete and utter disaster.
Deadpool is set to hit theaters on February 12, 2016.
