Civil War Will End Captain America Trilogy

The film will feature a massive roster of heroes and villains, but Kevin Feige insists that Civil War is still a Captain America film.

[dropcap size=small]N[/dropcap]ext year’s Captain America: Civil War has a huge ensemble cast list, including most of the Avengers, while names like Martin Freeman and Tom Holland will make their MCU debuts, but Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige has confirmed that Civil War will follow on from Winter Soldier, and complete a ‘unique’ Cap trilogy.

‘It’s very much, in a certain way, the completion of a Captain America trilogy. I think one day you’ll look back and watch — Captain America: The First Avenger, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and Captain America: Civil War — and it’ll be one of the most unique and different trilogies ever around a single character.’

We might be reading too much into it, but does the ‘completion’ of Cap’s trilogy mean the end of Steve Rogers? We all know how the Civil War comic book ends, and Chris Evans has talked openly about moving into directing once his limited contract with Marvel expires.

Sebastian Stan (Winter Soldier), meanwhile, has a 9-picture deal with the studio, while Sam Wilson (Falcon) has inherited the shield in the comic books. We could be looking at an all new Captain America by the time Infinity War comes around. Either way, Iron Man must fancy his chances right about now.

Captain America: Civil War opens May 6th, 2016.
