Sam Smith’s theme song for Spectre was lacking, maybe Radiohead’s is better? You decide.
[dropcap size=small]T[/dropcap]here were several problems fans had with the latest James Bond film, whether it be the script, the storyline, the action scenes, or lack thereof. That being said, one of the biggest problems fans had with the film was the intro theme for Spectre. Sam Smith’s song definitely sounded like a James Bond ballad, but it felt like there was something missing from it and it didn’t quite fit in with previous ballads. Could someone have done it better? Per se, Radiohead?
When you think of Bond ballads, you generally think of a slow, quiet song that eventually builds into this one fierce, beautiful climatic moment before slowly drifting away. A great example of this kind of ballad would be Adelle’s work for the intro theme in Skyfall. Adelle’s work was widely hailed as a classic Bond ballad and Sam Smith’s fell short of this. Radiohead’s work seems to be mildly better (in my own opinion) than Sam Smith’s, but it still seems like it doesn’t fit the movie.
