90’s kids rejoice, Marvel is taking us back to the good ol’ days.
[dropcap size=small]I[/dropcap]n what was certainly the most unexpected news at this year’s Comic-Con, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige broke the news to everyone in Hall H that Captain Marvel will be a prequel taking place before Iron Man. Not only that, and this isn’t that much of a surprise considering the comics, Marvel will be introducing the extraterrestrial shapeshifters known as Skrull in the film. The best part? The film will take place in the 1990’s. Get ready for a wave of nostalgia.
Just as to how Marvel plans on explaining this in the film is as big of a mystery to you as it is to everyone else. Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury is tied to the film and he apparently won’t be wearing his noticeable eye patch this time. Our best guess at this point is that Marvel will use Nick Fury as a means to tie in whatever events transpire in Captain Marvel to the events up to and/or in Iron Man.
