Treyarch is at it again, taking the latest addition to the Call of Duty franchise even further into the future.

[dropcap size=small]T[/dropcap]he newest member of the Call of Duty family has been revealed with the release of the Black Ops III trailer on Sunday, April 26th. And oh boy does that trailer look good. In a short two minutes, the trailer shows plenty of gun-fights, robots and drones, and epically detailed environments to be featured within the game.

Black Ops III picks up in the time after Advanced Warfare, where the world is desolate and ravaged by war. The scenes shift from destroyed urban environments to snowy forests to lush green jungles. Almost of all of the soldiers who are recurring throughout the trailer are outfitted with cybernetic and robotic upgrades to their bodies, upgrading them to be faster and stronger in the battlefield.

Another change to the Call of Duty soldier is that there is a female character in the trailer, which suggests that for the first time, players will be able to choose between a male and female character.

Countless technological upgrades are featured throughout the trailer, similar to what was introduced in Advanced Warfare. Futuristic planes and tanks are seen being shot out of the sky or driven over rubble to crush an enemy drone.

Robots are playing another huge role, some being seen designed like humanoid soldier and others being huge four-legged rotating death machine tanks. The soldiers themselves are also upgraded with different robotic tech, which gives each different abilities. One soldier is seen turning a mechanical hand into a cannon, while another can release a robotic swarm that destroys their enemies.

More customization comes as a new feature to the game’s campaign mode. Four person co-op play is now available, which allows more fast paced combat in the new more open area style maps. Weapons and loadouts now allow for more customization along with character abilities and outfits. Each aspect of the character has a full leveling system with higher levels unlocking more powerful perks.

The movement system has also had an overhaul, which includes wall runs and mantling abilities. Treyarch says that “a new momentum-based, chained-movement system that allows players to move fluidly,”. This comes on the heels of the introduction to enhanced movement in an FPS, specifically in Titanfall, in 2014 but it will be interesting to see how it will work within Black Ops III.

A fan favorite aspect of the Call of Duty family of games, the heart-pounding and terrifying zombie mode, is also set to make a return in Black Ops III.

Call of Duty: Black Ops III is developed by Treyarch and published by Activision and is set for release on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on November 6th, 2015.
