But what about Battleborn 2????????????????????????
One of the most significant and successful new video game IPs of the last console generation was Borderlands, the wacky loot-driven role-playing shooter series from Gearbox Software. The series currently consists of the original, the sequel, and the Pre-Sequel (set between 1 and 2), but fans have been eager for a third numbered game.
Well it looks like said sequel will indeed happen. During the PAX West gaming convention, Gearbox CEO explained to fans during a panel that 90% of his studio’s development team is “working on the thing I think most of you guys want us to be working on.”
Since Pitchford’s probably not talking about a followup to Duke Nukem Forever, Aliens: Colonial Marines, or their failed hero-shooter Battleborn, fans have assumed he’s indeed referring to Borderlands 3.
Pitchford went on to say that “A product does not exist until it’s announced,” meaning fans shouldn’t look too into this until the sequel is properly revealed, so hopefully that won’t be too long from now.
The last Borderlands release we got was The Handsome Collection in 2015, which paired Borderlands 2 and The Pre-Sequel together for PS4 and Xbox One, so hopefully since then Gearbox has been hard at work on the anticipated third entry.
Plus, Pitchford already showed off what a hypothetical third Borderlands game would look like running on Unreal Engine 4 earlier this year at GDC 2017, so yeah, it’s happening, it’s a matter of when.
