The popular anime title comes to North American consoles early next year.
Released in 1989, Berserk is a popular manga series written and illustrated by Kentaro Miura that later became a cult classic anime series, spawning plenty of merchandise and animated movie tie-ins.
The story centers on “the black swordsman”, a brutal mercenary named Guts, who wields a massive buster sword, much like Final Fantasy’s Cloud Strife. Through his journey, Guys joins mercenary leader Griffith, and his group the “Band of the Hawk”. Reluctant to join, Guts finds himself later in a leadership position among them before being placed in a much larger political rise to power by the Hawk’s leader, Griffith. War is constant, it never changes, and the dismal storyline of Berserk adds gruesome battle sequences, demigods, demons, and a whole lot of swordplay.
The trailer below showcases the Dynasty Warriors style of combat, whereas the player takes on hordes of enemies in this action backed brawler.
Whether you are familair with Berserk or not, you should definitely give the anime a try as a refresher, or a first time viewing as it is worth binge-watching at least once, especially if you are an anime fan. If you are into games like Dynasty Warriors and other hack and slash types of the genre, and you love violent anime, this could just be the game you have been waiting for.
Berserk and the band of the Hawk will be available on February 21st in North America, and February 24 in Europe for PS4, PS Vita, and PC.
