[dropcap size=small]M[/dropcap]arvel may have finally found its Stephen Strange, and it may come as a surprise to some. It would seem that Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch is in final talks to portray Marvel’s Sorcerer Supreme.

Rumors have been floating around about who would play the character, starting with Joaquin Phoenix, and ending with Johnny Depp, Jared Leto, and Tom Hardy to name a few. But if reports are accurate, Ben Cumberbatch is the one to have landed the role.

Harry Potter never looked better.

Though the announcement hasn’t officially been made, sources close to the project are claiming the news to be true. If that is the case, and it seems to be likely, we should expect an official announcement sometime very soon.

Created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko in the 1960s, Doctor Strange is one character we are most curious to see on the silver screen, and Benedict Cumberbatch seems like just the guy to make it happen with style and gravitas. What do you think? Was he your first choice for the role? Let us know in the comments below!

Doctor Strange is set to be directed by Scott Dickerson coming from a script by Jon Spaihts. The film is slated to be released TBD 2016.
