The upcoming sci-fi television series movie production, Battlestar Galactica, may not have a release date, but it now has a screenwriter.
In a recent feature done on Deadline, sci-fi fans all around the world gained some long-awaited knowledge regarding the upcoming movie remake of Battlestar Galactica’. Screenwriter, Lisa Joy, has been confirmed as the film’s script writer. She has quite the resume compiled with scripts of HBO’s Westworld and some episodes of USA Network’s Burn Notice under her belt at the moment. Recent rumors had suggested that the movie production was faltering, but now the film has gathered some steam with Joy as the new writer.
The film currently has Francis Lawrence as its director, with Lawrence coming off of a huge success in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Pt. 2. In the producer slot, the movie has a handful of successful producers on deck including Scott Stuber, Dylan Clark, and Michael De Luca. The plot of the film is under speculation by fans across the globe, with no confirmed similarities to either the 1970’s television series or the early 2000’s miniseries. Despite the franchise’s major success on the TV, no vastly successful films have been released on the sci-fi series. Time will tell if Universal will be able to spark some success with a Battlestar Galactica motion picture.
