Local Lenny Robinson dedicated his free time to dress up as Batman to visit terminally ill children in the hospital. Unfortunately, this past weekend he fell victim to a fatal car crash.
Some know him as Lenny Robinson, while others know him as the Route 29 Batman. Lenny Robinson was a Baltimore Businessman that owned a replica of the 1966 Batman film’s Batmobile as well as a customized black Lamborghini. Most of us would sit and drool over these machines as they sat in our garage. However, Mr. Robinson was known to take these cars out while also wearing a replica Batman costume. Sound weird? He wasn’t doing it out of geekiness, but for children in the hospital.
Lenny Robinson dedicated his free time to visiting children who were ill or terminally ill in the hospital as Batman to help lighten their spirits and tell them that with “strength and will of determination”, there is always hope. After being pulled over in March 2012 in full costume, Robinson gained his fame as the Route 29 Batman and his caped crusader role has been known ever since. Unfortunately, this past weekend, Mr. Robinson was in fatal car accident that killed him in West Virginia on Sunday. Due to some car trouble, he was left on the side of the road where he was hit by another car that left him dead. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends at this time and we would like to remember Mr. Robinson for all of the wonderful work he did as the masked vigilante.
