The deal is still being discussed, but sounds like its going swimmingly!
[dropcap size=small]I[/dropcap]n the last few years, the DC universe has planned out a variety of solo movies for their superheroes to be featured in. Aquaman is one of the latest heroes to get a solo movie and it appears his queen could be on her way to joining him by his side.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Amber Heard has been contacted about playing Mera, the female lead alongside Jason Mamoa. Heard would make her first appearance.
Mera is Aquaman’s love interest who, in time, becomes his queen in Atlantis. Mera made here debut in 1963 and her superpowers include to control and solidify water.
James Wan is set to direct Aquaman, who’s script is under dual-track development. Dual-track development means that a movie project is working on two separate scripts.
David Leslie Johnson, who is Wan’s script writer in The Conjuring 2, is writing one of the scripts, while the other one is written by Kurt Johnstad, who also wrote the script for 300 with Zack Snyder. Snyder is the director of DC’s upcoming movie Justice League, producing Aquaman and was one of the main contributors to the DC movieverse.
Heard is represented by WME and Karl Austen at Jackoway Tyerman.
Justice League will begin shooting in April and is targeting November 17, 2017 for their release date! Aquaman is due to hit shore eight months later on July 27, 2018!
