The former Spider-Man’s opinion may surprise you!

[dropcap size=small]S[/dropcap]ince 2003, there’s been five Spider-Man movies between 2 actors (Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield). Starting in Captain America: Civil War, the torch will be passed to Tom Holland as the new Spider-Man!
Garfield’s last movie as Spider-Man was in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Now that Holland has Garfield’s role, many believed that Garfield wouldn’t take the news lightly, seeing that he was replaced after two movies. But surprisingly, he gave a completely different answer!
“It feels lovely, especially because Tom Holland is a really, really great actor,” Garfield told ET’s Cameron Mathison at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s Annual Grants Banquet in Beverly Hills on Thursday. “He was in this movie The Impossible and he was just this incredibly powerful, sensitive, just wonderful young actor.”
“And [he’s] a dancer, so his body’s the right [form],” Garfield added.
Garfield even went on to say that it feels good to just kick back and watch someone else play the web-slinger! “I’m just really excited to just be a fan again as opposed to bearing the weight of it,” Garfield admitted.
As for Garfield’s first appearance on the red carpet in a year and a half, he called it “strange.”
“It’s interesting,” Garfield said, laughing nervously. “It’s nice bumping into friends, that’s really nice.”
Entertainment Tonight also got to hear Stan Lee’s opinion on Holland being cast as Spider-Man! “He’s good to me, I can’t see anything wrong with him. I don’t know him intimately, in fact, I’ve never met him. But if they picked him, I’m sure he’s good!”
When asked how it feels to have Spider-Man back in the cinematic universe, Lee responded “He never left, there was just a small hiatus.”
Holland will debut as Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War on May 6th, 2016!
