[dropcap size=small]W[/dropcap]hen it comes to Star Wars, there is always something going on. Whether it involves the movie(s), the comics, the actors, etc. There is always something to be told. With that being said, there are big things going on in the Star Wars universe lately.

BobIgerComicBookMovie

In a recent interview with CNBC covering the potential future sale of ESPN, Bob Iger, who is the CEO of Disney, mentioned that he’s seen The Force Awakens already.

“I’ve seen the film without most of its special effects and without most of its music. I can’t wait for the world to see it.”

Of course if he hasn’t seen the film without its special effects and the music, so that means he missed a good chunk of the film. While he did give away the impression that the film is great, he is the CEO of Disney, so of course he isn’t going to give the film, which Disney has invested quite a bit of money in, a bad rep.

It would appear that some veteran Game of Thrones actors are going to be in The Force Awakens. StarWarsPost and MakingStarWars have said that Miltos Yerolemon (right) will be playing the role of a patron at a bar owned by Maz Kanata, an alien character that is being played by Lupita Nyong’o. In addition to Miltos Yerolemon taking a role in The Force Awakens, Jessica Henwick (left) has reportedly taken a role in the movie as well. The actress has skirted any questions aimed at the idea of her being a part of the highly anticipated film, but she hasn’t denied it either.

For a while now there have been rumors circulating that there are going to be one or more live-action Star Wars television shows. However, according to Cinelinx there are three shows in the works right now. Supposedly Disney is planning on releasing them through Netflix due to the success of Marvel’s Daredevil, but this isn’t officially confirmed yet so don’t get too excited.

There have been rumors surrounding the idea that the actor Simon Pegg was going to make a cameo in The Force Awakens. This rumor proved to be true after the actor appeared in a behind-the-scenes reel that debuted at Comic-Con. Judging by the suit he was wearing we won’t see the actor’s face, but we will probably recognize his accent. The actor discussed his experience in being a part of the film in an interview with PopSugar:

“I was down there days when I wasn’t working just to hang out and see everybody. Meeting the likes of Carrie Fisher, and Mark Hamill, and Harrison Ford — they were my heroes growing up. They still are. It was extraordinary, and I’m sure they find it hilariously funny. I was holding Carrie Fisher, like, ‘I love you!’ And I could see it, looking into her eyes, I could see the same eyes that I’d seen as a kid. It was literally a dream come true. They’re all awesome. They’re great people.”

StarWarsRogueOneScreenRant

In an interview with Blastr, Gary Whitta, who is working on the script for Star Wars: Rogue One, went into detail about his writing process for the first ever Star Wars Anthology film:

“A little bit of both. [Lucasfilm] really want[s] to give their writers and their creative people a lot of freedom, to tell the best story possible. But they’re also aware of the fact that they’re building this very large interconnected universe, now with all the comic books, TV shows, video games, and films everything is now canon. So everything they do now going forward is canonically connected and has to be consistent as part of the same universe. No one is making the movies or the comics or the TV shows in a vacuum; everything is part of this one big consistent universe. Lucasfilm has a tremendous amount of institutional knowledge, you know. I know Star Wars fairly well myself, just as a fan, but they have experts there, people there who know the Star Wars universe inside and out. They’re also are very aware of what else is going on in the other movies, and what their overall plan is.”

LEGOStarWarsDorkSideoftheForce

If you like Star Wars, LEGOs and picture books, then you will be overjoyed to hear that there is a LEGO Star Wars picture book! Titled LEGO Star Wars: Small Scenes from a Big Galaxy, the book has photographs created by the Finnish photographer Vesa Lehtimaki. The photographer used his son’s favorite toys to make “painstaking recreations of classic Star Wars movie moments as well as irreverent takes on classic characters in the traditional LEGO Star Wars style.” The book will be released in stores on November 10th this fall.

JJAbrasMashable

At the premiere of Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, J.J. Abrams was asked about how the pressure of directing Star Wars: The Force Awakens was like. While the man is no stranger to pressure, he was the director of Star Trek: Into Darkness, he probably has been slightly stressed out because of it all. You can see his response to the question below.
