In a strange turn of events, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, which has received no marketing and is only a few months away from release, got its first official trailer today. You can watch it below, if you care, but like many DC fans, we presume you probably don’t.
“Having failed to defeat Aquaman the first time, Black Manta, still driven by the need to avenge his father’s death, will stop at nothing to take Aquaman down once and for all. This time Black Manta is more formidable than ever before, wielding the power of the mythic Black Trident, which unleashes an ancient and malevolent force. To defeat him, Aquaman will turn to his imprisoned brother Orm, the former King of Atlantis, to forge an unlikely alliance. Together, they must set aside their differences in order to protect their kingdom and save Aquaman’s family, and the world, from irreversible destruction.”
Fans, unsurprisingly, are sick and tired of DC Studios’ parent company, Warner Bros. Discovery, and their incessant meddling with the Justice League line of superhero films, of which the upcoming Aquaman sequel is the last remaining from the Snyder era before James Gunn’s new DCU takes over. And while we love Jason Momoa and respect James Wan, this movie will no doubt be a flop, following the latest two DC film disasters in The Flash and Blue Beetle, the former of which ended up as WB’s biggest financial flop in the history of the company, while Blue Beetle was received for favorably among fans when compared to The Flash, it didn’t exactly land as a major success either.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom swims into theaters this December 20th and while likely end up a flop like a fish on dry land. Man, who knew a film about an ocean-centric superhero had so many great puns?
