After being teased this morning by Nintendo, the latest DLC character for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was revealed in the opening minutes of the 2020 Game Awards.
It’s none other than Sephiroth, the iconic main antagonist of Final Fantasy VII.
He will be the eighth overall DLC character and a part of the Fighters Pass Vol. 2, joining Min Min from ARMS and Steve from Minecraft.
And of course, he joins Cloud as the second Final Fantasy character in Smash.
Does this mean we’ll get more than two FF songs in Smash? What exactly is that new stage? Is Cloud getting a new Final Smash?
Annnnnnd, does this mean other Square Enix characters like Sora from Kingdom Hearts and Geno from Super Mario RPG are no longer candidates as DLC Smash characters?
We don’t know yet, but like the other DLC characters, there will be a presentation by director Masahiro Sakurai explaining exactly how the One-Winged Angel plays and all the details we need to know. Nintendo’s YouTube channel will stream the presentation on 12/17 at 2pm PT.
The one-winged angel, Sephiroth from the @FINALFANTASY series, joins #SmashBrosUltimate as a DLC fighter later this month! Tune in at 2pm PT on 12/17 for a presentation from director Masahiro Sakurai all about the DLC fighter, including the release date! pic.twitter.com/zRaZCSZkrn
