Back in 2017, we covered the breaking news that the 2020 Tokyo Olympics would feature a handful of world-famous anime/manga characters who would become ambassadors/mascots for that year’s Olympic games. Well, that year is now this year (holy sh*t, right?) and we thought it would be fitting to remind you of what this epic new year has to offer during these epic game events in Japan.
The list of anime/manga characters to represent Japan this year at the Tokyo Games is quite large. Here is a list of who we know will be all over the advertising material leading up and into the games:
Goku (Dragon Ball), Luffy (One Piece), Sailor Moon, Cure Magical and Cure Miracle (Pretty Cure), Astro Boy, Shin (Crayon Shin-Chan), and Jibanyan (Yo-kai Watch).
As cool as this is, just remember that they won’t just be icons on your TV for your viewing pleasure. Additionally, these characters are likely to occupy a handful of merchandise that you can pick up. For now, you can take a look at the Tokyo 2020 online shop and see what they have.
