NES Games, pricing and cloud saves are confirmed, but once again the company fails to go into fine detail.
If you’ve been enjoying the Nintendo Switch’s free online play, don’t get too comfortable. Nintendo has confirmed, along with other new details, that the online play will change to pay-to-play come September of this year. While Nintendo has yet to divulge more details regarding members who will receive “Special Offers” it is apparent that the company has been listening to their fans. Check out the details below.
Plans and Pricing
There are four different plans for gamers to choose from, they are:
- One month: $3.99
- Three months: $7.99
- Twelve months: $19.99
- Twelve Month Family Membership: $34.99 – eight Nintendo accounts are allowed with this option
Free Games
Nintendo’s online service will allow virtual console-based collection of NES games that those who are monthly subscribers will have access to. These are the titles available in September:
- Balloon Fight
- Dr. Mario
- Super Mario Bros. 3
- Donkey Kong
- Ice Climber
- The Legend of Zelda
- Mario Bros.
- Soccer
- Super Mario Bros.
- Tennis
Included with the monthly subscription service but not listed here are ten more unannounced games that will be available in September. Another exciting feature that is offered is the availability of online multiplayer support, voice chat, and being able to watch your friends’ games via streaming.
Save Data Cloud Backup
The last and final option revealed for the online service is the ability to backup and save your data on a cloud service, something the Nintendo community has repeatedly (and loudly) voiced for since the Nintendo Switch was launched. The company didn’t go into too much detail about specifics but the company did say that you will be able to “save your data online for easy access”.
