HELLLOOOOOO NURSE!
It’s been 20 years since the Warner Bros. (and Warner Sister) graced our TV screens, but now they’re coming back! Hulu, Warner Bros. Animation, and Amblin Television are teaming up for a revival of Animaniacs. The series will return with two new seasons set to debut on Hulu.
“We cannot wait to work with Steven Spielberg and the entire Amblin and Warner Bros. teams to bring more sketches, catchphrases, songs and laughs from the Animaniacs to kids and adults everywhere,” said Craig Erwich, senior vp content at Hulu. “Now one of the most beloved, inventive and funny animated franchises in history, Animaniacs and its cast of witty characters can live on, on Hulu. This marks yet another big move for us as we continue our efforts to be the No. 1 streaming destination for premium animated content.”
The brainchild of Steven Spielberg, Animaniacs follows Yakko, Wakko, and Dot in a series of segments and songs famous for adult humor, pop culture parody, and educational value. Seriously, Wakko helped me learn all of the states and capitols.
“I am so pleased and proud that Animaniacs will have a home at Hulu,” said Spielberg. “Together with Warner Bros., we look to bring new audiences and longtime fans into this wild world of Yakko, Wakko and Dot.”
Animaniacs originally ran from 1993-1998, and would live on through Pinky and the Brain, a spin off featuring the titular mice duo introduced in the former show, and who have been confirmed to return in the revival too.
Unfortunately, it’s going to be a while before we see new Animaniacs episodes. The series is expected to return in 2020. Till then, Hulu has acquired the streaming rights to the original version of the show, and other classic ’90s Warner Bros. cartoons, including Tiny Toon Adventures!!! They are both available to watch right now.
We’re huge fans of Animaniacs, and we cannot wait for their comeback. Definitely check out the original series if you haven’t.
