It’s another Force Ghost Theory, guys and we are LOVING it!
Say what you want about the Episodes 1, 2 and 3, but I adore the character development of Anakin and feel that in order to get to the depths of Darth Vader, we needed to see his journey which is a one of the most iconic tragedies of our times. Up there with Shakespeare’s Macbeth.
Yes, this is real! God Bless ol’ Willy Shakes.
Anyway, before you all starting screaming “sacrilege”, we’ll get right into it.
The latest leak of The Last Jedi plot was again posted to 4chan, however any search for the article will prove fruitless as it was quickly taken down.
The only source we can now rely on is a YouTube video posted by Hybrid Network which generously breaks down the leak for us.
The plot was reportedly leaked by a former Lucas Films marketing executive, who was disgruntled after being let go after just a few months of working on the film. This marketing executive says that a rough cut of the film is already done and as he was heavily involved in the marketing of the film, he had the opportunity to see this cut of the film himself.
He says that the marketing of the new film will be aimed at making you think that Luke actually went to the Dark Side but that this is not the case. Luke is however disheartened with the Jedi and Rey will be responsible for bringing him back to the “Light”. With this being said, it is safe to assume Rey doesn’t go to the Dark Side either.
Sad Luke is sad.
The leak also reveals that Rey is neither a Skywalker or a Kenobi….wait for it….she is in fact a reincarnation of the first Force user!! We all know by now that Rey is very in tune with her emotions (how unlike a Jedi) and in the Last Jedi, this sort of dictates her use of the Force.
Luke reveals to Rey that she was bought to him by her parents who were afraid of her powers. We learn that Rey, like Anakin, was born out of necessity as the Force is always seeking a balance which is one of the reasons behind Luke’s disenfranchisement with the Jedi. We learn that he wants the Jedi to die off as he realises this is a never-ending cycle. In the end Luke agrees to train Rey as he knows Snoke needs to be defeated.
Rey is revealed to be incredibly powerful during training (did we really expect anything less?).
The leak seems pretty adamant on the fact that Yoda and Anakin will make an appearance as Force Ghosts. With Anakin showing up in a “really interesting” way. During one scene, Rey senses something in the sea which Luke reveals to be a creature filled with hate. When the creature emerges, Rey fights it but quickly feels something is wrong. The creature isn’t real. After making this discovery, the creature morphs into the Force Ghost of Anakin. As we know already, Force Ghosts do actually help in training so this appears to be some kind of “trial” or “test” Anakin is putting Rey through. Anakin reveals to Rey that the Jedi repressing their emotions was part of their down fall (how convenient for our emotional Rey!)
Rey faces her demons/Force Ghost Annie
Force Ghost Yoda admits in the film that the Jedi were arrogant in their prime but that they cannot let the Dark Side be the only future for the Galaxy. There must always be a balance.
We will also be shown just what happened to Luke’s Jedi academy and how Kylo Ren destroyed it. We are also shown a flash back in which Luke, in a rage was about to strike the young Ben Solo down before he sensed that there would be someone else who would come along to bring balance back to the Force. At this point Luke leaves to seek answers for the Jedi’s failings.
Roast Padawan, anyone?
On the topic of Kylo Ren, in the Last Jedi he is even more unstable (more tantrums?) and spends most of the movie in the company of Snoke. Snoke on the other hand doesn’t seem to care all that much about Kylo Ren and his abilities as the First Order is crushing the Resistance militarily.
Kylo, in his mission to trace Darth Vadar’s life, finds his way to Ahch-To. Obvious battle between Kylo and Rey ensues.
While the above battles rages on, the Knights of Ren take on Luke but are instantly defeated. Kylo however beats Rey this time and this is where Luke steps in. It sounds as though an argument between the two takes place, with Kylo blaming the failings of his parents (mommy AND daddy issues?).
obviously wasn’t hugged enough as a child
Luke, now back in the Light, asks Ben to help them defeat Snoke and offers to train him. Apparently Kylo agrees and thus turns back to the Light as well.
We then find out that Luke had a ship on the island the whole time (obviously, it’s not like he swam there!) and the film then has the lacklustre ending of Rey and Kylo flying off to god knows where and Luke standing before Snoke on a Star Destroyer.
In the meantime, on the other side of the galaxy, the Resistance is struggling to win at anything and Finn wakes up from stasis on a Resistance ship which is the attacked almost immediately by the First Order.
Just gonna snooze while the Galaxy falls apart.
Leia orders Finn to go find out Snoke’s origins and then escapes herself in one of the only remaining escape pods.
Finn eventually finds Snoke’s home planet which is a rocky and desolate place. Finn even manages to finds Snoke’s home which is apparently a crypt? Snoke’s ability to switch bodies is revealed and in using this ability and taking on other forms, is actually liked by many around the Galaxy (whatever this means?).
A lot of this leak seems very far-fetched and not to mention all over the place but I am going to say that bits of this supposed plot line really do excite me!
As with all leaks so far, we do need to take this information with a grain of salt. Either way, it will be interesting to see the direction the new movie takes and what it will add (or take away) from the Star Wars Universe.
The Last Jedi is scheduled for release on December 15, 2017 in 3D and IMAX 3D.
