So do we.
We weren’t big fans of Suicide Squad. And yeah, a lot of folks weren’t, but perhaps the most vocal critic of the film is one of its top billed actors, and our new Joker, Jared Leto.
Since the film’s release, Leto has pointed out that a majority of the scenes featuring the Joker were cut from Suicide Squad. The actor/singer has gone on to express dissatisfaction in the final cut of the film we got, and feels “tricked” into being in a film that wasn’t what he thought.

Leto commented on this dissatisfaction during “Camp Mars,” a weekend Jared Leto fan event. A Tumblr account chronically all things Leto (you’ll need a Tumblr account to view it here) has summarized his alleged remarks on Suicide Squad.
He was very honest about the film this weekend; his disappointment in what he’s learned of the theatrical cut (he’s still not seen the film); feeling sort of tricked into being a part of something that had been pitched to him very differently; thinking it would’ve been more artistic than what it became; feeling overwhelmed by the hate regarding the look and choices…
As this isn’t a direct quote from Leto, take it with a grain of salt, but it’s not hard to understand his frustration.
Clearly, Suicide Squad had lots of Joker content that was cut for whatever reason. Many scenes from the trailers, and even promotional images feature Joker in scenarios and costumes not in the final cut of the film.
(Those weird purple taser things were definitely not in the final film)
Any time an actor claims they were “tricked” into being in a bad movie is hilarious, but we’ll give Leto the benefit of the doubt. Joker wasn’t the big bad character the promotion for Suicide Squad promised. He was a glorified 10 minute cameo.
Oh well, we’re sure Joker will pop up in the rumored solo Batfleck movie…for at least 15 minutes.
