Dragon Ball XenoVerse 2 is bigger and better than ever!
Anime Expo 2016 has kicked off in a variety of big ways, including Bandai-Namco showing off a brand new trailer for the highly anticipated sequel to Dragon Ball XenoVerse (which includes a teaser for a new Super Saiyan 3 transformation, among other things). Although we will be attending in full force with a hands-on experience with XV 2, for now we will bring you the latest details of what the game has to offer.
Before getting into the new and exciting details, you’ll need to mark your calendars for October 25 is the release date for PS4 and XBO versions of the game, while PC (Steam) players will have to wait a few days until October 28. Now that we got that out-of-the-way, lets talk about Steve Aoki.
Classic songs from the beloved series such as “Cha-La Head-Cha-La” and “We Gotta Power” are being remixed by the legendary DJ himself, Steve Aoki. But that isn’t all. Aoki will also be a NPC you can interact with in the social area replacing Toki Toki City. Yes, that’s right. Steve Aoki not only will be remixing some music for XV 2, he will also be in the actual game itself, occupying a spot in the city, available to chat and interact with players. Aoki went on to say that he “jumped at the chance to contribute” to the game, as he grew up with the Dragon Ball series and is actually quite a fan. Who knew?
Now, onto the talk of transformations check out the Dragon Ball XenoVerse 2 – Anime Expo trailer below. At 1m45s you will get quite the surprise…
Yep, your custom Saiyan fighter can now finally transform into a Super Saiyan 3.
.
Finally, your unique custom character (Saiyan Race) can transform beyond a Super Saiyan 2, with style taken directly from Goku’s signature Super Saiyan 3 hair-do. Beyond that, it is not known whether your Saiyan will be able to power-up beyond that of a Super Saiyan 3, but at this point we are just excited to know that it’s possible at all. One of the most requested features of Saiyan transformations was being able to go beyond SS2 in the first game, as Battle of Gods and Resurrection F both introduced new transformations for Saiyans and Frieza (Golden). But don’t get your hopes up for any Super Saiyan God or Super Saiyan Blue transformations just yet. For all we know, SS3 is the limit, but who knows for how long as DLC will extend a year after the game’s initial release this October.
.
“Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is shaping up to be the biggest and best Dragon Ball videogame experience to date.” – Eric Hartness, Vice President of Marketing at Bandai Namco Entertainment America.
“Both the contribution of DJ Steve Aoki’s musical talents and his in-game likeness will add a fun new dimension to the Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 experience that fans will appreciate.”
As for what’s new in XV 2, you can count on a higher frame rate from the last game, a social space that can house up to 300 players at once, hoverboards (as seen in the trailer), new transformations, new characters, an enhanced combat system, the largest customization choices to date, and at least a full year of DLC support after the game releases this fall.
No need to gather the Dragon Balls yet, geeks- it sounds like most of your wishes are coming true with XenoVerse 2 (hey! that rhymed!).
