After Xbox One had a disappointing start for it’s fans, Microsoft looks to impress and sell this console early and often!
[dropcap size=small]M[/dropcap]icrosoft is moving to another project after the Xbox One had a disappointing start and couldn’t outsell the Playstation 4. The next project is titled Project Scorpio, which was announced earlier this week at E3.
Phil Spencer, head of Microsoft’s Xbox division, elaborated about Project Scorpio saying that it’s hardware is able to enhance the visuals of some Xbox One games and how it’s more than just an upgrade from the Xbox One. Spencer specifically said that Scorpio will be 4.5 times more powerful than the Xbox One.But until the specs come out, there’s no telling from our point of view if it will actually turn out better.
Spencer confirmed that Scorpio is a “true 4K” console with the ability to deliver “high-fidelity VR.” It is also said that the Scorpio will have more RAM space and improved memory bandwidth than the Xbox One’s 8GB DDR3. Speculation has grown that Scorpio will perform at a higher rate than Sony’s Playstation Neo, which will be working on a 4.2 teraflop GPU, making Xbox’s Scorpio run 40% faster.
With all of this being said, it’s important to know that in order to get the true experience with the Scorpio, you need a 4K TV in order to play 4K games. The games are not mandatory for the Scorpio, but would definitely make it better. Microsoft was so excited for Project Scorpio that they almost released the system this year, but was persuaded to wait in order to add more teraflop room to the system, which is said to be at six. It’s good to see that Scorpio will be an immediate improvement from the Xbox One.
Until we get into the first month of both Scorpio and Neo’s release, we won’t know which one will be better. Sony won the battle between PS4 and Xbox One. We will find out next year who will win the next round.
