Erik Bauersfeld, voice of Admiral Ackbar in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi and The Force awakens has passed away at 93. He died Sunday morning in his home in Berkeley California.
Bauersfeld delivered one of the most iconic lines from Star Wars, “It’s a trap!”. Reprising his roll as Ackbar in The Force awakens. He was also the voice of Bib Fortuna in Return of the Jedi.
Bauersfeld wrote this for his nonprofit, Bay Area Radio Drama “The voice work I did in movies was accidental. I was working with Randy Thom on radio dramas at his technical quarters at Lucasfilm. One day Ben Burtt, sound designer for Star Wars, came by and asked if I would audition for a voice in the movie.”
