Maybe Supreme Leader Snoke is just….Supreme Leader Snoke?
[dropcap size=small]E[/dropcap]ver since Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released back on December 18th of last year fans have been producing all sorts of theories on what the true identity of Supreme Leader Snoke is. One popular fan theory is that Supreme Leader Snoke is actually Darth Vader but it is safe to say that we can disregard that theory considering Luke’s father perished at the end of Return of the Jedi. However, one fan theory that has recently gained an immense amount of popularity is if Supreme Leader Snoke was actually Darth Plagueis.
It was during Star Wars: The Revenge of the Sith that Darth Sidious, aka Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, told Anakin Skywalker the about his former master Darth Plagueis. Darth Plagueis was one of the most powerful Sith to have ever lived and Darth Sidious claimed that he could even “use the Force to influence the midichlorians to create life”. Of course, Darth Plagueis ended up being brutally murdered by his own apprentice Darth Sidious and that is where his story ends. Or is it?
According to Andy Serkis, the actor who voice Supreme Leader Snoke in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, it is. Back in November of last year, Entertainment Weekly spoke with Andy Serkis and the actor claimed that there is no connection between Supreme Leader Snoke and Darth Plagueis.
“Supreme Leader Snoke is quite an enigmatic character, and strangely vulnerable at the same time as being quite powerful,” Andy Serkis said in his interview with Entertainment Weekly. “Obviously he has a huge agenda. He has suffered a lot of damage. As I said, there is a strange vulnerability to him, which belies his true agenda, I suppose.”
It looks like we’ll have to wait until Star Wars Episode VIII for more information on just who Supreme Leader Snoke is.
