[dropcap size=small]T[/dropcap]he box office this week was packed with newly released movies. Comedy film Daddy’s Home starring Will Ferrel and Mark Wahlberg opened second behind The Force Awakens, while Jennifer Lawrence’s Joy and Will Smith’s Concussion opened in the third and sixth spots, respectively. Sisters and Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Trip had good second weeks grossing about $13 million each. As expected, The Force Awakens was still number one at the box office and is continuing to break all kinds of records. This week, we will see the full release of Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight. The movie is currently showing in select theaters and although it is doing very well, it did not make enough money to secure a spot in the top 10. Also releasing next week is Yosemite, a drama starring James Franco. It will be interesting to see how these movies open and how the movies that are currently showing will continue to do.
