Sorry Chris Pratt fans, the rumor that he would be the next Indiana Jones just isn’t true.
[dropcap size=small]W[/dropcap]hen Disney bought Star Wars from Lucasfilm that wasn’t the only rights that Disney acquired, the rights to Indiana Jones were also given over as well. While the news did hit the media for a while, it quickly was buried underneath everyone freaking out over what direction Disney will take Star Wars in. Fast forward to the summer of this year following the smashing success of Jurassic World and how impressed people felt with Chris Pratt’s performance sparked rumors that Star Lord would be the next Indiana Jones. Unfortunately for some people, this isn’t true.
It was during an interview with Total Film that Indiana Jones producer Frank Marshall put the rumor about Chris Pratt taking over the role of Indiana Jones to rest. While they don’t have the whole plot for Indiana Jones completely figured out, Frank Marshall made it clear that only Harrison Ford will play the role of Indiana Jones. They are “not doing the Bond thing where we’re going to call somebody else Indiana Jones… we have to figure this out.”
“We haven’t even sat down to talk about Indy yet… at some point we’ll sit down,” explained Frank Marshall. “But there’s a bunch of people who could probably take the baton.”
So there still is a possibility for Chris Pratt to take the baton from Harrison Ford/Indiana Jones. At this point no actor is completely certain, but you can be sure that a lot of popular actors would kill for the role of one of America’s most beloved characters.
