More like a boardwreck…Sorry.
Hey guys! Remember when we reported on Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 and it’s disappointing soundtrack? Remember when the game’s visual style was changed months before release? Remember when we were optimistic that these weren’t signs that the game would blow?
Well, we unfortunately do, and it does.
Yes, it’s true; Pro Skater 5 is a mess. It runs poorly, looks bad, and has more bugs than Johto’s National Park.
The game launched this past Tuesday for PS4 and Xbox One, and not long after that, videos showcasing the game’s poor performance surfaced online, including Tony Hawk falling through ramps, flailing through the air, and in general, appearing as though he has never rode a skateboard before.
You can see for yourself below:
Unfortunately, all signs pointed to this. Neversoft, the usual Pro Skater team, didn’t develop the game, it was announced and released in the span of a few months, and the press wasn’t sent review copies of the game until it’s relase date, which is never a good sign.
The game even received a hefty 7.7 GB day-one patch, and it still runs poorly. (The video footage above was taken post-patch.)
I’m not sure what is more unacceptable, Activision knowingly releasing this game in the state it’s in, or still charging $60 for it.
Readers, avoid Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5. Maybe one day it will be properly fixed. Till then, enjoy a collection of GIFs made from this game here.
This is our favorite.
