“What might seem to be a series of unfortunate events may in fact be the first steps of a journey” – Lemony Snicket

[dropcap size=small]I[/dropcap]f you are the type of person that enjoys the bragging rights of saying ‘I read the book BEFORE it was a series/movies’, and if you haven’t already read A Series of Unfortunate Events, I would put that as a top priority for your future. If you have read the series, and enjoyed them, try to contain your excitement. (Don’t).

Back in November of 2014 Netflix began developing the new original series in production with Paramount Television. Netflix has just announced that Barry Sonnenfeld will be directing the new series, with Mark Hudis as the executive producer. Sonnenfeld is best known for his work in the ‘Men in Black’ trilogy as director, and was also one of the executive producers behind the 2004 movie, Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events featuring Jim Carrey.

The Series of Unfortunate Events follows the sad events of the Baudelaire children. Orphaned at young ages, the three children (Violet, Klaus, and Sunny) are placed in the custody of a relative, Count Olaf, who attempts to steal their inheritance. The series progresses when the Olaf’s plan fails, and the children are sent to different relatives, with Olaf unfortunately persisting. Everywhere the Baudelaire children go, only unfortunate events seem to follow.

Although a release date has not been set, that does not seem to upset many fans. One fan even created a trailer for the series.

*This is not an official trailer, just a fan made one.*

All we can do now is wait, and

“Waiting is one of life’s hardships.” – Lemony Snicket
