Fox considers giving Deadpool 2 the release date for Fantastic Four 2.
[dropcap size=small]W[/dropcap]ith Fantastic Four bombing at the box office and failing to appease fans and critics alike, Twentieth Century Fox has turned its attention to their upcoming film Deadpool. The highly anticipated film starring one of Marvel’s most popular comic book characters has captured the media’s attention and with fans raving over the latest trailers for the movie rumor has Twentieth Century Fox thinking about dropping Fantastic Four 2, replacing it with Deadpool 2.
According to the rumor, Twentieth Century Fox is considering removing Fantastic Four 2 from the June 9th, 2017 release date slot and placing Deadpool 2 in its place. With the disaster that Fantastic Four was it makes sense that Twentieth Century Fox would see a sequel for the film an unlikely idea. Two years are quite a ways away, but not so far away that people would forget just how bad Fantastic Four was.
Of course Deadpool 2 hasn’t even been confirmed by Twentieth Century Fox or Ryan Reynolds, so it is important to keep in mind that this is just a rumor and not official news. However, both Ryan Reynolds and Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld have discussed the idea of Cable and Deadpool being in a movie together. Since then the idea of Deadpool 2 featuring Deadpool working alongside Cable has gained traction, with fans calling for Deadpool 2 to focus on the duo.
So how likely is it that a script could be written for Deadpool 2 and the movie completely filmed before June 9th, 2017? Pretty unlikely. Unfortunately the task of finding a director for the film and an actor for the role of Cable, in addition to Ryan Reynolds being contracted to work on other films, would consume an immense amount of time. Despite all of this, there still remains a small chance of Deadpool 2 being released on June 9th, 2017.
