JK Rowling gives an answer to the supposed rumor of a potential Harry Potter spin-off television series.
Rumors have been going around that there could have been a Harry Potter TV series in the works. Given the number of avenues JK Rowling could go with the series, it seemed very likely that this rumor would come true. A number of spinoffs have been in the making, but according to a recent tweet, Rowling eliminated hopes of a possible TV show.
According to a recent conversation on Twitter, Rowling was asked by Skyler Spitz, “So like… We had seven books and 8 movies. We are getting a play and 3 spin-off movies. Where is our TV show?” It’s been about 4 years since the release the final film was released in theatres, and we have a while until the wizarding-world hits the big screen again. Rowling shut down the possibility of a TV show by answering, “Right after the opera, Potter-on-ice and the interpretive dance version of Beedle the Bard #NotActuallyHappening”.
The interactive fan website, Pottermore, contains a variety of unpublished material that goes past what the books tell us which leads me to believe that maybe there could be an expansion somewhere. With the elimination of a TV show series, maybe there could be a movie or book addition for the Harry Potter fans. Nothing has been completely confirmed or denied regarding these ideas so fans will just have to wait it out. Until then, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will be coming out on November 18, 2016, with two sequels planned as well in the years 2018 and 2020.
