It’s official, Channing Tatum will star and produce 20th Century Fox’s X-Men spin-off movie, Gambit.
[dropcap size=small]F[/dropcap]or a while, it seemed that one of Hollywood’s hottest male actors and Twentieth Century Fox were not going to reach an agreement. Many reports from last week made it seem like Channing Tatum was close to walking out on the deal after the actor and the studio ran into a sensitive rough patch. Luckily, both parties worked things out and came to an agreement.
Apparently one of the most important parts of the agreement was figuring out just how involved Channing Tatum would be in the X-Men universe. Gambit is one of the most popular characters in the X-Men universe, just like Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, so it makes sense that Twentieth Century Fox wanted to make sure that Channing Tatum would appear in not only his own movies regarding Gambit, but several others in the years to come. Sources also suggest that back-end compensation was also an important issue that needed to be addressed.
If you recall that Hugh Jackman has been reprising his role as Wolverine since 2000, nearly fifteen years in total, it makes sense that Twentieth Century Fox would expect Channing Tatum to stick around for just as long, if not longer. Altogether, it seems like things worked out well and both parties are happy with the agreement.
Gambit will arrive in theaters on October 7th, 2016, Rupert Wyatt will be the director.
