It has been confirmed in a recent interview with 343 Industries that Halo 5 will not support split screen gameplay.
[dropcap size=small]I[/dropcap]t has been recently confirmed that Halo 5: Guardians will not contain a split screen option for its players. Regardless of being a consistent option since the original Halo release in 2001, Halo 5 users will be saying good-bye to split screen in the upcoming video game.
A recent interview with 343 industries finally put the debate to rest and revealed that Halo 5 would be abandoning any choice of split screen multiplayer or cooperative play. As most Halo fans know, this will be the first game in the franchise that won’t sport the split screen option. The team over at 343 has admitted that they intend on running a constant 60 frames per second for the Halo 5 gameplay and that they don’t want to sacrifice any of these frames in a split screen option. When a game runs 60 fps for single player gameplay, the game will then cut the frames per second in half when you split the screen for multiplayer situations. Most multiplayer games including Mario Kart, Need for Speed, and the recent Halo games have been known to cut their frames per second down to 30 when players opt for multiplayer split screens.
The game will still contain a campaign mode for up to four player teams online. There were some rumors going around that this could be possible on Xbox Live Silver, but users will need Xbox Live Gold to play online campaign modes. This combined with the unfortunate news of the game’s lack of split screen features have fans quite upset, but the game is sure to still be a must-have for Xbox One users. The game is slated for release on October 20, 2015.
