Today at Comic Con, Treyarch revealed to a press conference a lot of great information about the upcoming zombies mode for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3. Some have been saying that the zombies gameplay is what all of the fans are waiting for in the upcoming game and Treyarch gave its fans a treat today.
After releasing the long awaited trailer for the game, Treyarch assembled a panel of game designers and those who voice the characters in the zombies mode. The voices in the upcoming game include Jeff Goldblum, Heather Graham, Ron Perlman, and Robert Picardo. Each of them voice a character in the Call of Duty Zombie spinoff that takes place in the 1940s. The four characters, The Magician, The Femme-Fatale, The Cop, and The Boxer, are tasked with discovering the secrets and challenges that are personalized for their specific character. There is a titled “Shadow Man” who narrates the story, voiced by Robert Picardo, who helps each of the characters figure out what each of their “flaws” are. Rumors have it that each of the characters will possess some sort of special power or feature exclusive to that character.
The official title of the zombies game is called “Shadows of Evil” and is actually said to be connected to the actual story line of the Call of Duty campaign mode. No previous maps are going to make an appearance in this new Zombies mode so that does have some fans upset. The zombies mode is said to be “more realistic [and] more gritty” according to Tom Kane who also plays a role in the franchise’s set of voices as Takeo Masaki. The game will also have a “progression system” that will make each time you play the game a bit different depending on experience and what happens in that particular round.
Treyarch also announced a variety of add-ons and special bundles which had all of the fans extremely excited. There will be three different collector’s editions for the games titled: Digital Deluxe Edition, Hardened Edition, and the Juggernog Edition. Briefly after the press conference Amazon and Gamestop started taking pre-orders for the various Special Editions and sales are said to be skyrocketing. The most exciting of the special edition packages is the Juggernog Edition which includes: a fully functioning Juggernog Mini Fridge replica from the game capable of holding (12) 12 oz. cans; a set of Perk-A-Cola coasters for each of the different perks in zombies; a season pass that allows users to receive all of the DLC packs; various in-game bonus content which includes custom guns and weapon camo; a copy of the official Call of Duty soundtrack; a collectible steenbok; and of course the most important part, “The Giant”, a bonus map for the Zombies mode. “The Giant” features a Nazi research facility that will of course feature the beloved Pack-a Punch machine and a remake of the “Der Riese” level in the previous game. The other two special editions mainly include the season pass as well as the in-game bonus content including the extra map. However, they don’t include all of the must-have collectors items in the Juggernog Edition (full item list for each of the packages here).
Treyarch had one last thing to tell the audience at the press conference that had everyone going crazy once again. They have started a fundraising campaign with Omaze, which allows fans who donate, to get the chance to become zombified as a part of a new DLC as well as get a tour of Treyarch. Similar to that of kickstarter.com, the size of your donation depends on how many entries you get in a raffle for the grand prize, as well as what fan item you will receive for your donations.
All of the Special Edition versions are for available to pre-order on Amazon and Gamestop and are sure to be a huge hit. Advanced Warfare lacked a good Zombies gameplay mode which has left everyone extremely anxious for the upcoming Zombies mode in Black Ops 3. The game is set to release on November 6, 2015 so be sure to pre-order soon!
