President of Nintendo, Satoru Iwata, spoke with Time Magazine on the matter:
“As of now, I have nothing new to share with you in regard to the use of our IPs for any TV shows or films, but I can at least confirm that the article in question is not based on correct information.”
While very little information was given, he hasn’t confirmed, nor denied, that such a series is in production. It had better be in production. Don’t toy with my emotions, Iwata. DON’T TOY WITH THEM. However, how well will the Legend of Zelda transfer over to a live-action television show? It’s easy to be excited, but then we remember things like the Super Mario Bros. movie happened.
Remember when IGN released that Legend of Zelda live-action trailer for April Fools’ Day? Man, that got me so pumped when it was released. Aside from the corny costumes, it was pretty well-done, and that was with a low budget. Cautiously optimistic is usually my approach for things of this nature, just like the upcoming Star Wars VII. For those of you who have never seen the IGN April Fools’ Day trailer, treat yo-self.
