[dropcap size=small]D[/dropcap]ead Rising: Watchtower, the upcoming live-action film based on the hit zombie video game series from Capcom, will be released on March 27, 2015. The movie, aptly described as “Indiana Jones with zombies,” will launch through Sony’s Crackle streaming service, as well as other streaming sites, DVD, and TV.
Following the basic premise of the game series, the movie follows four survivors fighting to stay alive as they seek out the root of a zombie epidemic after a government-produced vaccine fails to halt the spread of the infection.
Fans of the video game series will be pleased to see that the series’ beloved protagonist, Frank West, will appear in the film, played by Rob Riggle (Step Brothers). The film will also star Jesse Metcalfe (John Tucker Must Die), Meghan Ory (Once Upon A Time), Virginia Madsen (Sideways), and Dennis Haysbert (24). The characters these actors will portray have not yet been identified.
Watchtower was directed by Zach Lipovsky (Leprachaun: Origins). It is produced by Godzilla and Warcraft studio Legendary Entertainment’s TV and Digital Media division.
