A big opportunity has just opened up for directors everywhere…

The director of the anticipated World War Z sequel has just dropped out of the project. Juan Antonio Bayona has decided to not join the filming of the second movie that was set to start later this year. The Reason being is that he felt he need more time to work on his current film, A Monster Calls. The studio had this to say:

“Bayona is no longer able to make World War Z 2 this year, and it is our ambition to do so. He is a wonderful director and we hope to work with him soon.”

Paramount sounds like they have a plan to recover, and with enough time to spare. The movie was announced to come out June 9, 2017 and will keep that date as of now. Plus on the bright side Brad Pitt is still set to return and slay even more zombies in the Apocalypse.

With World War Z grossing $540 million world wide worldwide, and the new movie to have a budget of about $200 million it will be exciting to see what direction the sequel will take.
