A variety of games were showcased today at the PlayStation 5 event. From among them, however, emerged a cute little game called Stray. But what made this game stand out? As you can probably guess, this game puts the player into the paws of the protagonist – a cat.
When I thought about what a cat driven game would look like, Stray was not what I imagined. In fact, it looks better than what I imagined. I am happily surprised and excited for this game with its purrfectly unkempt urban jungle setting and glowing neon lights.
Not much has been revealed about the game’s storyline so far. All we really know is that we get to play as a cat and explore this seemingly open cyberpunk world. However, I have been able to spy some clues that may shed some light on this matter. When PlayStation posted the trailer on YouTube, the trailer was captioned as follows: “Lost, alone, and separated from family, a stray cat must untangle an ancient mystery to escape a long-forgotten cybercity and find the way home”. There are also lot of robots walking around in the trailer, but no humans. So where are they?! In one particular scene, there is a graffitied wall in the background with the words “RIP HUMANS” written on it. Does this mean that the humans have mysteriously disappeared? Purrhaps!
Stray has been confirmed for release on PS5 sometime in 2021. If you aren’t in the least a little bit excited for this game, you’ve got to be kitten me. (I’m not even sorry about the cat puns.)
