Most people wouldn’t actively go back to high school. Then again, Tom Holland isn’t most people.
[dropcap size=small]M[/dropcap]arvel has cemented its relationship as a company that avidly searches for the best actor for an important role. So far, all of the actors chosen have been superb and dedicated to their role. However, it seems that British actor Tom Holland is so incredibly seriously about his role as Peter Parker that he went back to high school for three days!
Tom Holland revealed that he went undercover as a normal high school student during a Facebook Live session last week Friday. Of course, the actor eventually had to tell someone what he was doing, but no one seemed to believe him.
“I told one kid at the school, I was like, ‘Hey man, I’m actually Spider-Man.’ He did not believe me, was like, ‘What? No.’ I said, ‘No, seriously, I’m Spider-Man. Like, no joke. Like, let’s not mess around anymore. I’m Spider-Man.’ He’s like, ‘I don’t believe you,'” Holland said. “And at the time, I hadn’t made the movie so I didn’t have any pictures to show him, to prove that I was Spider-Man. And he did not believe me at all.”
It seems that Tom Holland had a brief culture shock while he was in high school since U.S. school and British schools are so different. The young actor said, “When I went to school, you had to wear a suit and tie and it’s all boys and for me, it was the first time I was in a classroom with girls. It was like a really strange experience. It was really fun.”
Of course being British and showing up in a school full of students means that eventually someone was going to become suspicious of him. Unfortunately, Tom Holland couldn’t convince one of his classmates that he was in fact undercover to get ready for a major role in an upcoming Marvel film.
“She was sitting next to me and she was like, ‘What’s your deal, man? Like, why are you at our school? Like, this is a science school, you can’t just enroll, you have to come from the beginning. And I was like, ‘Oh, well, I have a secret. I have a secret.’ And she was like, ‘What? This guy’s a freak. Like, what the hell? …and then I started doing an English accent…’I’m actually Spider-Man.’ And she was like, ‘Dude, you’re nuts. You are literally the craziest guy I’ve ever met in my life.”
With the trailer for the highly anticipated Spider-Man reboot now released and Tom Holland no longer trying to convince high school students in the Bronx that he was the next Spider-Man, you can be sure that the young actor had the last laugh.
